It seems like the prices go up for new year goodies every year. When you think about it, this is an annual event, and people can plan for this, yet every year prices of many things go up this season.
Fish, prawns, Bak Kwa, Pineapple Tarts, etc. Even cutting of your hair!
This is plain exploit, just like the Taxi Pricing. It is not supply and demand.
I've spoken to many Singaporeans who just fly away every Chinese New Year as you pay extra for food and many things before CNY. I agree, with this kind of mindset, what kind of progress do you expect. Its everybody for themselves.
I wonder if rents will double every year during Chinese New Year and hey, while we are increasing rents, perhaps petrol and public transportation prices should increase as well.
People seem to want to play that game and pay more for less service and stuff.
